Drama unfolds at St. Martins as Young Stars and Adeleke FA Played Out To A 1-1 draw At The First Oke-Paadi Derby Of The Season

Gameweek 4 of the new Aspire Juvenile League season kicked off with the Oke-Paadi derby at St. Martins.

Two rivals, Young Stars and Adeleke FA, locked horns at a shared home ground as both teams were looking to fight for points and pride.

It was all Young Stars in the first half as they were more threatening, creating the early chances of the game from dead balls.

Halfway through the first half, the Young Stars defence wasn’t careful enough as they committed a foul in their own box as the referee pointed to the spot after a VAR check.

The penalty decision didn’t sit well with the Young Stars faithful, but Adeleke talisman, Onu Ifeanyi, didn’t mind, as he scored his 4th goal of the season from the spot He followed it up with the bullseye celebration.

Young Stars continued to apply the pressure on Adeleke defence right until the end of the first half as one goal separates both sides, going into the break.

The second half continued on the same momentum as the first half. The men in ashes continue to knock on the door, but the Adeleke backline stood firm.

What’s a derby without drama? Tensions begin to rise halfway through the second half as the referee sent two players off the field for indecent, one each from both sides, the two teams reduced to 10-men.

10 minutes later, an Adeleke player was sent off after adjudged to have hit one of the Young Stars defender in the face.

A win for Adeleke will see them go top, but with just 5 minutes of stoppage time to play, Young Stars pulled off their last ammo from their Arsenal as they came up with a late goal to level matters.

Young Stars’ equaliser took about 10 minutes of video review before it could be whichever stretched the game further, which means more time to find a winner. None of the teams could as they both settled for a point.

Youngsters drop their first point of the season as they remain top with 7 points while Adeleke recorded their second draw of the season to remain third.

Both teams will look to bounce back in their next game, as Young Stars will be travelling to Isinigbo to face Matceo FA while Adeleke will head to St. Martins Park to play a wounded Trivas FC
