Aspire Juvenile League 2025 — Team of the Season: The Eleven Who Defined a Campaign
By the Aspire Juvenile League Media Team | Akure, Ondo State
Every season has its numbers. Its results. Its table. But the real story of any football campaign is always told by the individuals who showed up, week after week, and made things happen. In the AJL 2025 season, eleven players did exactly that — rising above the rest, carrying their teams, and producing the kind of football that made this league worth watching.
These are the players who earned a place in the Aspire XI 2025. This is their story.
Formation: 3 – 4 – 1 – 2
IN GOAL
M. Omolafe – Adeleke FA
3 Clean Sheets
Every team of the season needs a goalkeeper who makes it look easy — and

Omolafe was that keeper. Cool under pressure, composed on the ball, and commanding in his area, he brought the full package between the sticks for
Adeleke FA. Three clean sheets in a competitive league does not happen by accident. It happens because a goalkeeper reads the game early, positions well, and makes the hard saves look routine. Omolafe did all of that. Proper keeper. Proper selection.
AT THE BACK
P. Chukwumeze – Tubaba FA (Left Centre-Back)
4 Clean Sheets
Defending is about more than just clearing your lines. It is about organisation, concentration, and the willingness to put your body on the line when it counts. Chukwumeze brought all of that to Tubaba FA’s backline. The left centre-back contributed to four clean sheets across the campaign a figure that speaks to a defender who takes his job seriously and executes it with real quality. Quiet. Reliable. Essential.
Michael Fashemo – Youngstars SC (Centre Centre-Back)
5 Clean Sheets | 1 Goal
If there was a single defender who embodied everything Youngstars SC stood for in 2025, it was Michael Fashemo. The central pillar of the backline that conceded the least in the league, Fashemo was more than just a stopper. He read danger before it arrived, organised the defence around him, and chipped in with a goal when it mattered. Five clean sheets. A title-winning campaign. A performance level that made him the obvious choice for the heart of the Aspire XI defence. A season he will not forget in a hurry.
Rasheed Akinkunmi – FA Brave Eagles (Right Centre-Back)
2 Goals | 1 Assist
Not all defenders are content to stay on their side of the pitch and Akinkunmi proved that a centre-back can be a genuine attacking threat without neglecting his defensive duties. Two goals and an assist from the right centre-back position is an impressive return at any level of football. Akinkunmi offered FA Brave Eagles something different, a defender with the confidence and the ability to contribute going forward. A modern defender in the truest sense.
IN THE MIDDLE
Tobi Akanni — Mateco FA (Left Wing-Back)
11 Goals | 2 Assists
Let that number sit for a moment. Eleven goals. In fourteen games. Tobi Akanni was not just one of the best forwards in the AJL this season, he was one of the most devastating attackers in the entire league regardless of position. Relentless up and down the left flank, Akanni combined the defensive awareness expected of a winger with an attacking output that most forwards would be proud of. Eleven goals and two assists. He was a nightmare to face, and a joy to watch.
Maxwell Adelugba – FA Brave Eagles (Left Centre-Mid)
4 Goals | 4 Assists
Eight direct goal contributions in a season is the mark of a midfielder who does not hide. Adelugba was everywhere for FA Brave Eagles, getting on the ball, driving forward, finishing when the opportunity presented itself and creating when it did not. Four goals and four assists represent the kind of balanced, two-way midfield performance that makes coaches’ jobs easier and opponents’ lives harder. A complete midfielder.
Ali Abdulrouf – Mateco FA (Right Centre-Mid)
2 Goals | 4 Assists
Every team needs a midfield maestro, the player who controls tempo, dictates rhythm, and makes the whole thing tick. At Mateco FA in 2025, that player was Ali Abdulrouf. His four assists tell you he was always looking to unlock defences. His two goals tell you he could also do it himself when needed. But the real story of Abdulrouf’s season was what he meant to Mateco FA as a collective without him pulling the strings in the middle, their season looks very different. The engine room. The brain. The mastro.
Chukwudi Orji – Youngstars SC (Right Wing-Back)
3 Goals | 6 Assists | Playmaker of the Season
The Playmaker of the Season award told you everything you needed to know about what Chukwudi Orji brought to Youngstars SC’s title-winning campaign. Six assists, the most in the league, combined with three goals of his own made Orji the most creative player on the pitch in almost every game he played. Operating from the right wing-back role, he had the freedom to get forward and the intelligence to use it effectively every single time. When Youngstars were flying, Orji was usually the one with the keys.
BEHIND THE STRIKERS
Ifeanyi Onu – Adeleke FA (Attacking Midfielder)
10 Goals | 3 Assists
Ten goals and three assists from the number ten position. Ifeanyi Onu was the most complete attacking midfielder in the AJL this season, comfortable creating for others but equally lethal when given the chance to finish himself. His ability to operate in tight spaces, combine with the forwards, and still arrive in dangerous positions made him almost impossible to handle. The third-best player in the league overall, and a player whose performances this season demand serious attention from anyone watching grassroots football in Ondo State.
UP FRONT
Praise Babalola – PCCG FC (Centre-Forward)
9 Goals | 2 Assists
Nine goals and two assists in a single AJL season is an outstanding return by any measure and Babalola delivered it with the cool efficiency of a striker who knows exactly what his job is. Strong in the box, sharp in the penalty area, and always available to link play when needed. PCCG FC’s campaign had its bright moments largely because Babalola was delivering when it mattered. A striker who belongs at this level and arguably beyond it.
Shehu Rasheed — Tubaba FA (Centre-Forward)
14 Goals | 1 Assist | Golden Boot | Aspire D’or 2025
Where do you even begin with Shehu Rasheed?
Fourteen goals in thirteen games. More than a goal a game. In a competitive juvenile league where defences are organised and results are tight, that kind of output is simply extraordinary. Rasheed was not just the best striker in the AJL this season, he was the best player, full stop. Every time he stepped onto the pitch, the question was not if he would have an impact, but how many times. Clinical. Relentless. Unstoppable when in full flow.
The Golden Boot. The Aspire D’or. Both deserved. Both his.
In a team of eleven outstanding footballers, Rasheed was still the one who stood alone.
